Midget Rep played first league game of the season on Saturday vs Huntsville AE and came home with a win. See "rest of article"
New to the team and area goal tender Mark Strudwick played a fabulous game between the pipes stopping over 30 Huntsville scoring chances. Goal scorers for Almaguin were Aidan Anger, Sam Baker-Pauley and Lucas Weddel.The weekend did not end there as Game 2 took place in Gravenhurst vs South Muskoka AE. The end result was not so favorable with a 3 - 2 loss but the team came back strong with a great third period and many chances to tie up the game. Bryson Holotuk scored his first Almaguin goal and Aidan Anger scored the other.The team is unique this year as it is made up of 8 previous Almaguin Players, two players who have joined from Powassan and 5 from Huntsville. The team also welcomes the first female player in a number of years to Midget Rep. Considering the team is a group of new players with only 2 practices under their belt the season looks like it will be a very positive one for the team.
