M-V-Lee!!
Friday Dec. 30 saw the Midget LL Ice Devils in Erin Ontario to take part in the Erin-Hillsborough Golden Puck Christmas Tournament and Leona Lee continued to shine in the Almaguin net as she was named tournament MVP.

In some part as a result of the 3 1/2 hour morning drive, Almaguin got off to a sluggish start, dropping the opening game 4-0 to the host Erin 91 Devils.  Erin opened the scoring with just over a minute remaining in the 1st and added two n the 2nd and one more in the 3rd as the Ice Devils were unable to mount much of an offensive attack.  Despite the lack of scoring, winger Colter Beally had a strong game at both ends of the rink and was named Almaguin's player of the game.

The second game of the day for Almaguin saw a match-up with a very skilled and fast Guelph Gryphons team, but the Ice Devils hung tough, holding Guelph off the scoreboard for over half of the game, before finally succumbing 3-0.  All-in-all it was a very good result against a tough opponent.  As a prelude to her MVP award, goaltender Leona Lee was named player of the game for Almaguin.

The final game of the day for Almaguin came against the other host team, the Erin 92 Devils.  Playing back-to-back games, Erin were still able to take advantage of six Almaguin penalties, coming away with a 3-1 victory.  Almaguin's only goal of the game was scored by South River's Aidan Carleton.  With a strong defensive effort, Jevin Ronholm picked up player of the game honours for the Ice Devils.

Despite the losses, a fun day was had by all.  Thank you to Erin-Hillsborough for the hospitality (and pizza) and congratulations again to our MVP, Leona Lee.
