Tired Legs...
Short on players, but big on heart, the Midget LL Ice Devils travelled to Huntsville on Thursday January 26th for a third shot at victory (in three tries) vs. Dalton Payne Contracting and this time they nearly pulled it off.

Huntsville would open the scoring at the 7:56 mark of the first, but despite playing with a short bench of only 9 skaters, Almaguin were able to get the goal back quickly as winger Aidan Carleton tapped in a hard working Dennis Luckasavitch effort just 38 seconds later.  Luckasavitch did the heavy lifting, beating both Huntsville defenders and nearly the goalie, but as it was, the puck lay on the goal line and Carleton streaked in to deposit it and tie things up at one. Late in the first and with two Dalton Payne players in the ‘sin bin”, Almaguin were able to work the puck well on the power-play and Defenceman Liam Zurbrigg-Tutt finished off a nice Noah Haggart-Dennis Luckasavitch passing play with a blast from the point that Huntsville’s goaltender was unable to get a piece of. 2-1 Almaguin after one period of play.

The only goal of the second belonged to Dalton Payne, but with undermanned Ice Devils beginning to wear down, the home team erupted for three more goals in the third and cemented a 5-3 victory.  Almaguin’s third goal of the game came from the stick of Dennis Luckasavitch who seemed to be involved in every play for much of the game, finishing the night with 3 points, one goal and two helpers.
