This past weekend saw a much
anticipated match-up as the Almaguin Ice Devils welcomed the first place Parry
Sound 1 Shamrocks to town and as big games will, this one did not disappoint!
Parry Sound opened the scoring of midway through the first period, but Almaguin wasted little time in replying as Hayden Snow put one past the Shamrocks goaltender exactly a minute later. The visitors would hit the score sheet again early in the second and add another halfway through the frame before Hayden Snow came calling again with his second of the game to make it a 3-2 game heading to the third.
With the Shamrocks down a man to start the final period, Almaguin’s Dale Hunter was able to grab a loose puck off of a Hayden Snow shot and net himself a shorthanded marker to tie the game at 3-3. With neither team appearing to want anything less than the win, the game was a wide open, back and forth tussle for much of the third before the visitors were able to sneak the game-winner past Ice Devils goalie Josh dePeuter with only 55 seconds remaining in the game and head home with a very narrow 4-3 victory
