Novice Games Feb 27 and Mar 4&5
The Novice Ice Devils had a busy week! Monday they faced off against the Atom Gazelle’s in an exhibition game at the South River Arena. Both teams work hard to represent their league but the novice boys dominated with a 5 to 0 win! Wednesday, the Novice team hit the ice for their final practice of the year. They spent that time prepping for the division play downs which Almaguin hosted in Sundridge over the weekend.

Saturday morning we were the first team on the ice, against Huntsville’s Near North. The team worked hard and with an outstanding effort from our goalie, we had a 3 to 0 win. Our second game was against Huntsville’s Robinson’s Independent at noon. We were able to keep the momentum going with an impressive win of 7 to 0, which put us into the finals on Sunday. Sunday the stands were packed to cheer on the kids as they faced off against South Muskoka’s Blakewood Construction. It was an intense game with both teams giving 100%. The Ice Devils overcome some setbacks during the course of the game to win 4 to 1 and become the MPS Local League Novice Champions! Our goalie, Jack Hrabb, was recognized for his hard work, receiving the MVP trophy. The Novice team has had an amazing season winning all 16 of their regular season games and all 3 of their play downs games to be our 2016-17 Local League Champions. We wish to thank the boys for their dedication to the game, their parents for ensuring they get to practices and games, as well as, our coaching staff for volunteering to make it all possible. It was a fabulous season & we’re looking forward to the fall when we can do it all again! Connie McCaig
