Ohhh for two. :(
One game was better than the other, but the lads and lasses still dropped both on Friday and Saturday.

Following the previous week’s meeting in Gravenhurst, Almaguin squared off with South Muskoka’s Muskoka Highlands for the second time in a week, this time on home ice in Sudridge for a rare Friday night Local League game.

Almaguin this time came prepared to play, opening the scoring mid-way through the first as Markus Krajinovic jammed one past Highlands goaltender Cam Clement to give the home squad the early lead.  The lead would be short lived however as South Muskoka would reply just 7 seconds later, before adding one more in the dying seconds of the 1st to hold a 2-1 edge after one period.

A very entertaining and scoreless second gave way to a wild third period of play; helped by 8 minutes of Almaguin penalties, the visitors were able to score six times and put the game out of reach, winning by a final of 8-1.  Of note on the evening was Levi Spoelstra who picked up his first minor hockey point with an assist on Almaguin’s goal.

Still licking their wounds from the previous evening, the Bantams headed to Huntsville for a Remembrance Day game with Heather Douglas and turned in a much better performance. When the two teams met in early October, Huntsville skated to a thrilling 2-1 win and this game was much the same.  Goalie Daria Sollman was once again solid in the Almaguin net, as she would be beaten only once.  The lone goal would hold up to be the winner however as Huntsville took the game 1-0.

Frustrating times, but the smiles remain and the entire team feels like things are about to change for the better.  With no game next weekend, the players (and coaches) will get some much needed rest and try to get back in the win column on November 25th at home!
