In just their second game following the
Christmas break, the Bantam LL Ice Devils headed to the Canada Summit Centre
this past Saturday for an early morning date with Huntsville Davicor.
In the midst of a recent slide, coaches decided to juggle some line combinations and a much better effort and improved play resulted. However, and despite a very good effort, lots of energy and out chancing their opponent, a win was not in the cards as some stellar goaltending from Davicor’s Riley Holford held Almaguin off the scoreboard for the second time in as many meetings between the two teams.
From the opening faceoff, the game was an exciting, back-and-forth affair which saw Huntsville finally break the 0-0 draw half way through the second period.
The newly formed, Almaguin version of the KLM line (for hockey historians) of, Kallan Ronhom, Levi Spolestra and Markus Krajinovic had many chances, while a second new trio which saw Griffin Martens Centering Colleen Carleton and Andrew Hill played well also as each had opportunities of their own.
In the end, Davicor added three third period goals to compliment two in the second frame to skate away with a 5-0 victory.
Almaguin, at last, applied some forechecking pressure and moved the puck well all game; two things that were missing the past handful of contests.
