Johnson "Tricks" Parry Sound As Better Play Leads To An Exciting Tie!
A busy weekend of hockey saw the Bantam LL Ice Devils play some good hockey, battling undefeated Parry Sound Auto Parts to the very end of a spirited 6-3 loss before earning a much needed point with a 6-6 tie against Huntsville Pro Active.

The first of two home games this past weekend saw first place Parry Sound Auto Parts come to town for a Saturday evening game vs the Bantam LL Ice Devils.  Coming off a 7-0 drubbing the last time the teams met, Almaguin were determined to play better and that they did as defenceman Clayton Johnson turned in his best effort of the year with a hat-trick.

Parry Sound opened the scoring quickly, netting two in the first period and one in the second, but Johnson replied with two of his three, the second of which was a very impressive short-handed break-away tally to cut the deficit to 3-2 heading to the final period. Desperately wanting to hang on to their undefeated record, the visitors would go on to add three more in the third period to skate away with the 6-3 win.  The two teams will face off again this coming Saturday (November 24th) in Parry Sound.

In the second game of a busy weekend of hockey, Huntsville Pro Active made the trip to Sundridge, looking to avenge an opening day 7-6 loss to the Devils.

As has become a frustrating trend, Almaguin once again gave up the opening goal (plus one more) as Huntsville jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before the home towners woke up. The second period was a different story however and Almaguin came out flying as team captain Cliff Loucks rocketed a point shot over the shoulder of Pro Active goalie Will Tempest while slick centreman Markus Krajinovic slid another home for the Ice Devils.  A resurgent Almaguin power play continued to click as Anna Wager fed Ayla Carter in the slot for the third home team goal of the period.

Down 4-3 heading to the third, Almaguin scored the equalizer when Clayton Johnson stuffed in his team leading 8th of the year and then took the lead when Ayla Carter returned the favour, setting up Anna Wager for a goal.  The lead was short lived however as Huntsville's Cory Maw continued to torment Almaguin scoring his 4th of the game to tie things up.

Not willing to go quietly, Ice Devils spark plug Dylan Watt broke in on net to score and give Almaguin a late game lead, but once again Maw came to Pro Active's rescue, adding his 5th of the night (and 9th in two games vs Almaguin) to make the 6-6 final.
