The Novice Ice Devils had a double header with the South Muskoka Bears
The Novice Ice Devils had a double header with the South Muskoka Bears this weekend.

Friday night’s game was at the Sundridge Arena and the Ice Devils were ready for a fight. Nathan Hill showed persistence in his defensive play and stuck close to his man poking at the puck every chance he got. Defensively, the team as a whole is getting stronger and better at holding the line, it was tough to break into the Bear’s offensive zone. Evan Poljanski had a great shot attempt only to be denied by the crossbar.

Saturday’s game in Gravenhurst was a tough one! Almaguin was thirsty for a win, and worked hard until the bitter end! It was great to see the team’s energy and grit. The fans were on the edge of their seats, the entire game.

Team work was the theme of this game. Players kept their heads up and looked for an open lane to make a pass. Positional play was another highlight as the team is gaining a better understanding of their place on the ice. Almaguin scored the first goal of the game early in the first period.

Evan Poljanski played well defensively in front of the net while Mason Croxon-McNay hustled hard and persisted against his opponents. The offensive push forced South Muskoka to take penalties in order to negate Almaguin’s scoring opportunities. The Ice Devils made the Bears fight for every goal they got.

Combining for Almaguin’s two goals were Aiden Cremer, Owen Prentice, Eric Vincer, Matthew Wilkie and Cole Farquhar.

It’s great to see the roles of each player develop and the team work together. Great effort Ice Devils! We will get them next time!
