Novice Local League, 2016-2017 Season (Almaguin Minor Hockey)

The Novice Ice Devils had a busy week! Monday they faced off against the Atom Gazelle’s in an exhibition game at the South River Arena. Both teams work hard to represent their league but the novice boys dominated with a 5 to 0 win! Wednesday, the Novice team hit the ice for their final practice of the year. They spent that time prepping for the division play downs which Almaguin hosted in Sundridge over the weekend.

The Novice Ice Devils concluded their regular season schedule, at the Summit Centre, against Huntsville’s HRC on Saturday. At the end of the first period, we were up 1 to 0. We kept that pace; scoring once more in both the 2nd and 3rd periods. Our goalie was on the top of his game, earning a shut out to give us a final score of 3 to 0. The Novice team has had a spectacular season, winning all 16 of their local league games. The team has worked hard learning techniques to develop skills of the game. The Novice Almaguin Ice Devils were off to Gravenhurst to face the South Muskoka Wes Finch & Sons team. The first period of the game was close as it was tied 1 to 1. Almaguin added two more goals in the second period and three more goals in the third period to make it a 6 to 1 win for the Ice Devils. It was a team effort as goals came from six different players. This makes for a winning streak of fifteen games in local league games. The team is off to Barrie next weekend for a one day tournament.
