Stiff Competition!
A full day of hockey saw our Midget LL Ice Devils tackle some tough opponents at the Erin-Hillsburgh Christmas Fun Tournament this past Wednesday in Erin, Ontario.

GAME #1; Penetang Flames 9, Almaguin 2

The first game of the tourney was a match-up with a very talented Penetang team and Almaguin started well. After giving up two early goals, our Ice Devils settled down and got one back courtesy of Noah Haggart from Sabastian Patterson, before the Flames would add another to head to the 2nd up 3-1.

Penetang came out strong in the middle frame, scoring twice on the power play and five times in total to increase the lead to 8-1.

Almaguin were able to get one back late in the 3rd on a reversal of the first goal, as Patterson scored, assisted by Haggart before the visitors added one more with just 25.2 seconds remaining to make the 9-2 final.

Almaguin player of the game (as chosen by the opposing team) for Game 1 was #5 - Emma Story.

GAME #2; Almaguin 1, Streetsville Tigers 8

It didn't get any easier for Almaguin in the second game against another strong opponent, the Streetsville (Mississauga) Tigers.  Despite a very determined, hard working Ice Devils effort, The "home" team Tigers started the game flying and never looked back.  Almaguin gave their all and played their hearts out, but were no match for a deep Streetsville team that netted four in the 1st, three in the 2nd and one in the 3rd en route to an 8-1 victory.

Owen Adams had the lone Almaguin goal of the game.  The recipient of a hard working Emma Story/Breslau Bos rush, Adams crashed the net hard and banged in the rebound and ruin the Streetsville shut-out. Story and Bos picked up assists on the tally.

Almaguin player of the game for Game 2 was #4 - Riley Dunn.

GAME #3; Almaguin 0, Erin 92 Devils 4

The final Almaguin game of the day saw an all-Devils match-up as the Almaguin Ice Devils took on the host team Erin 92 Devils in one of the three consolation finals.

Unfortunately, a short break between games, tired legs and a lack of focus all added up to the third loss of the day as Almaguin fell 4-0.

Almaguin player of the game for Game 3 was #4 -Riley Dunn.

Despite the outcome, the players were polite, positive and professional throughout and represented Almaguin Minor Hockey well at the fun, well organized tournament. Congratulations to Ayr on the tournament win.
