On Sunday May 15th the Almaguin Minor Hockey Association celebrated the 2015-16 season with a pot-luck lunch and awards banquet at the Burk's Falls Arena.
Despite some not-so-spring weather, some great food and good times made for a fun afternoon.
Congratulations to our Midget Award winners for this season;
First year forward
Lindsay Young took home the
ESSO Most Improved Player Award for a season in which her confidence grew with each game, finishing the year as a key part of our team.
The
ESSO Most Sportsmanlike Player for 2015-16 was Defenceman
Liam Zurbrigg-Tutt. A leader both on and off the ice, Liam was a positive influence for our young team all season.
This season's
ESSO Most Dedicated Player was a shared award. Despite moving late in the winter,
Breslau & Chandler Bos continued to commute to and from Bradford, never missing a late season game.
Big winner on the day, and much deserved was Goaltender
Jacob DiSomma, who walked away with the
Nick dePeuter Memorial Goaltender Award which recognizes the top goalie, Rep or Local League in the entire AMHA.
Congratulations also to both Kelly & Liney Luckasavitch, this season's Midget team nominees for the annual Mike Clarke Award, given to the volunteer or volunteers who give their time throughout the year. Kelly & Liney were our main clock team this past season and to graduating Alternate Captain Stephanie Young, our Midget nominee for the 2015-16 Sr. Joe Martin Award, honouring a player showing "passion, commitment and dedication to the game of hockey".
Thank you again everyone for a fun 2015-16 season!
