Spooky
With Halloween on the horizon and following a
solid performance at home the previous weekend, the Bantam LL Ice Devils once
again took to home ice at SSJ Arena in Sundridge this past Saturday, locking
horns with the early season, division leading Parry Sound Shamrocks 1.
Some very entertaining, back and forth action saw the two teams trade goals, Parry Sound late in the 1st and Almaguin, courtesy of “rookie” Max Boyes, late in the 2nd to send the game to the final period all tied up at one. The last fifteen minutes would provide much of the same entertainment, but the visitors were able to outscore Almaguin 4-1 to walk away with a 5-2 victory and remain undefeated on the year.
With little time to wallow, Almaguin hit the road on Sunday for an 11:00 AM date with the Bears of South Muskoka. The Bears opened the scoring part way through the 2nd period and added another early in the 3rd before Almaguin could get on the board. Despite a furious late game surge, which included a huge penalty shot save by Ice Devil goalie Daria Sollman, South Muskoka were able to hang on for a narrow 2-1 victory The lone Almaguin goal on the day was netted by Markus Krajinovic.
