Novice Ice Devils rebound at home
The Novice Ice Devils were up against the Huntsville Otters this past Saturday.

The Otters had a quick goal in the first period and Almaguin was able to hold their ground through the second. The lack of offensive effort provided Eloise Worrell the opportunity to show off her skills in the net. Mason Croxon-McNay, Maxime Major Fleming, Max Durand worked hard to fight off the Otters and Cole Farquhar snagged the lone goal for the Ice Devils.

Sunday the Ice Devils were back on the ice, against the Muskoka Rock and were hungry to prove themselves after a hard day the day before. It didn’t take long to see that they were motivated and ready to take control of their opponents. Owen Prentice opened up the scoring for the ice devils early in the first with Eric Vincer assisting. There was a quick second by Maxime Major Fleming, assisted by Cole Farquhar. The defence was on their game today. Mason Croxon-McNay hustled hard in both directions. Chris Chatelain, and Quintan McFarlane found their men in front of the net, and never let them leave their sight. Cole Farquhar netted the last two goals of the first period, one was assisted by Maxwell Durand and the other by Evan Poljanski.

Back at it in the second period, the energy never waned. Owen Prentice wow’d the crowd with 4 awesome goals! He was on fire! Two of the goals were assisted by Aiden Cremer and one by Eric Vincer. The teamwork on the ice Sunday was top notch. There were solid passes and good game sense in both ends allowing for good plays and great defence. The final goal of the period was scored by Maxime Major Fleming, assisted by Evan Poljanski and Nathan Hill.

In the third the Ice Devils managed to keep their legs under them and continue to out skate and outplay their opponents in both ends of the ice. Owen had another two shots hit the back of the net, one assisted by Eric Vincer and the other by Matthew Wilkie. Aiden Cremer had a sweet top cheese goal, assisted by Owen Prentice and Cole Farquhar sealed the deal!

The teamwork was outstanding in Sunday’s game! The defence found their opponent and stuck with them. The offender saw the open man and made passes. The opportunity was there and the Ice Devils made it happen. Well done Almaguin! Emilia Jarvis was off sick, but we look forward to having her back to hold down the blue line next weekend.

Next weekend the Novice team heads to Haliburton for a weekend long tournament. Keep up the great work!!
