Whew! Bantams hold on for a big opening game win.
Sunday saw the return of Local League hockey for the Bantam LL Ice Devils and the first game was exciting at both ends of the rink with both Almaguin and Huntsville Pro Active trading chances all game long, with the visiting Devils coming out on top with a 7-6 win.

“Rookies” were the talk of the game as newcomer Ayla Carter lead the Devils with a four point (2 goals, 2 assists) night, while fellow first year bantams, Anna Wager and the Owen Robinson picked up a goal a piece. “Veterans” Clayton Johnson (2) and Levi Spoelstra were the other goal scorers for Almaguin.

Huntsville jumped out to an early lead just 28 seconds in, but Almaguin wasted no time in replying as Johnson found the back of the net twice to give the Devils a 2-1 advantage after one period of play.

Almaguin would add three more markers in the 2nd as Carter, with two and line-mate Anna Wager did the damage.

Two for Pro Active in the 2nd and three more in the 3rd to off set two more Almaguin goals (Spoelstra with a wicked wrist shot and Robinson with a power-play blast from the point) were almost enough for Huntsville to complete the comeback, but another "rookie", goaltender Keaton Brown shut the door to preserve the victory. In addition to Carter's two, other assist in the high scoring game went to Spoelstra, Markus Krajinovic (with 3), Colleen Carleton and Dylan Watt.

Good start!!
